Bevis Mulholland, MD.

Over the last 20 plus years Bevis has been responsible for an extensive array of mechanical and electrical designs. Following university Bevis undertook a fully indentured electrical apprenticeship, with a view to working within the family contracting business. Once Bevis had completed this training Bevis realized that his true path lay in the design of building services. As such Bevis was instrumental in building the electrical design department of a medium sized mechanical and electrical contractor. This grounding proved invaluable in commercial and practical senses. Bevis was then able to take this experience and embark on career in design consultancy, culminating with Bevis being lead designer on multiple schemes with values in excess of 100 million pounds. In 2010 Bevis commenced private practice.

Project Management

We can demystify the mechanical and electrical engineering aspects of a project.  We have extensive experience of managing projects on behalf of clients. We can fulfil the principal designer duties if required.  Or we can assist in the project delivery.  By providing a robust detailed specification for all projects enables us to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget. We do this by collaborating with the project teams, both during the design and the installation phases of the project.

We also have extensive experience of commissioning of mechanical and electrical services and we realise that this is a critical path task. As such from day 1 we emphasise the commissioning of systems and their completion.  We have developed a bespoke Authority to Proceed system which can be implemented if required. We have found that by placing emphasis on the commissioning phase of a project we can ensure that the client obtains systems which are demonstrated to meet the design criteria.

Quality Assurance

All our designs are designed in accordance with a BS 9001 compliant management system. The company is actively working towards obtaining formal certification to BS 9001.

Electric Vehicles

Electric Vehicles (EVs) are set to revolutionise the transportation sector in the UK and the rest of the world.

Mulholland Building Services have made this area a particular area of expertise. Working in conjunction with our associated company Volta-Group we are at the forefront of this innovation and the implications and considerations which need to be made.  As designers we are seeing clients embrace the technology and provide the infrastructure to enable the needs of building users to be met.

Design Process

Our extensive experience has taught us that building requirements change. A building design is almost a living entity which grows and changes as the process is followed.  To this end we have developed our design process to enhance the clients journey along the design process.  Whilst we model all of our designs. Our journey starts much sooner than that.

We need to define the details from our client and ensure that the building requirements meet the clients requirements. We do this by collaborating with the client and the design team.  We are great believers in communication and openness. We nurture and contribute to all our designs. We assist them and provide the details which other team members may need.  We involve the client as much or as little as they would like to be involved. We realise that all clients are different, as such we engage with our clients in order to provide as much support as we can.

Our aim is to formulate and create a building which meets our clients needs. We do this by communicating with our client and determining their aspirations.

There may be a requirement for some sample designs or space planning to cover different options. We have developed expertise in the real of optioneering. We quite often get asked to carry out a number of studies and explore the possibilities for a client.  This will ultimately define the conceptual scheme and enable the client to determine what the services are generally going to do in their building.  Upon completion of the scoping and optioneering phase of the project we can then continue to detailed design.

Detailed design involves the creation of a detailed 3d model of the building services. This model enables an accurate simulation of the building to be carried out.  Once we have the scope and requirements defined we can commence the design process.
